Composition of Loading & Unloading Skid

The loading and unloading skid consists of preset batch controllers, flowmeters, control valves, static-grounding and overfill-protection devices, loading arms, vehicle-queuing systems and supervisory control software. The preset batch controller, flowmeter and control valve are the core components of the system.

Functions of Loading & Unloading Skid

The preset batch controller collects signals from field instruments, performs preset batch control and transmits operating data to the supervisory system.
The flowmeter measures the transferred product and provides real-time flow data, while the control valve manages the loading sequence and regulates the flow rate. The system transfers a preset quantity of product into the road tanker under controlled operating conditions. Custody-transfer-grade mass flowmeters are used to reduce the influence of vibration, pressure fluctuations and entrained gas on measurement performance. The system can be configured for road-tanker custody-transfer applications.

Scope of Application

The system is suitable for the loading and unloading of compatible petroleum products and chemical liquids using road tankers.

Skid-Mounted Loading Rack

A skid-mounted loading unit integrates the fluid-transfer equipment on a common skid frame. Compared with field-fabricated systems, factory assembly helps shorten the on-site construction period and improve assembly consistency. Process valves, unloading pumps, air eliminators, filters, flowmeters, actuated valves and loading arms can be connected and installed on the skid frame. Where required, vapor-recovery piping can also be installed in positions corresponding to the loading arms. The assembled skid is tested before delivery to reduce on-site installation and commissioning work.

1. Flexible and compact. The skid-mounted equipment is arranged and assembled at the factory to reduce the required installation space. The integrated unit can be transported and repositioned according to project requirements.

2. High level of integration with simplified installation and maintenance. The skid can integrate controllers, flowmeters, valves, piping, fittings, loading arms, connectors, cables and cable trays. Process and vapor-recovery connections can be reserved for field installation. The modular arrangement facilitates subsequent inspection and maintenance.

3. Factory assembly reduces complex field-installation work and helps lower project costs and shorten the construction period.

4. The skid can be fitted with quick self-sealing couplings. The applicable coupling type, sealing performance and compliance with API RP 1004 should be confirmed according to the selected product and certification documents. The skid is assembled and tested at the factory to reduce field-commissioning work.

5. The loading-control system supports preset batch loading, multi-line loading, proportional blending, calibration and real-time temperature compensation according to the selected configuration. The operating interface simplifies data entry, while static-grounding alarms, overfill protection and emergency shutdown functions support safe loading operations. Piping and electrical components for installation in Zone 1 hazardous areas are selected according to the project classification and certification requirements.
